Riflettere esercitandosi

Dovendomi esercitare nello scrivere in inglese, ho provato a buttar giù qualche riflessione sulla grammatica, per condividerla in rete....
perdonate gli errori di grammatica :-)

Studying English over the last three years, I have been aware of minor weight of grammar in English speaking countries.
When I was in Italy, I studied at the British Council and my teacher told me that grammar lost its importance during the last two decades in England.
Here, in New Zealand, one of my teachers acknowledged she never studied grammar at school. In addition another teacher, answering my question about the Saxon Genitive, admitted his ignorance about grammar. I was completely astonished. And this is not the end!
As I have been hearing over the last month in Auckland using the form ‘Do you have’ rather than ‘Have you got’ for the questions, I asked teacher which expression is correct. Well, she thought just for a moment and answered: “ ‘Do you have’ is the correct one, ‘Have you got’ is present perfect”
I am aware of modern approaches to teach languages and I am conscious of the minor importance of grammar in these strategies. Even if Italian schools are more conservative than British schools, in a similar way we can observe the same evolution in teaching our mother tongue.
The effects are evident, when people write they make several mistakes and in addiction these errors are accepted increasingly in different situations, at school, on news papers, magazines etc…
Our languages are losing stability, it looks like as the needs of communication are more pre-eminent than necessity of accuracy. Maybe this happens when languages are going to develop in new idioms. Maybe this is linked to the modern global and local changing.
On the other hand, to my mind, teachers should know grammar and try to teach it.
